Suryakumar Yadav, who took an iconic catch of David Miller in the last over of the 2024 T20 World Cup on the boundary rope to win the title for India, wants to recreate the same catch to win the 2026 edition. Notably, Surya will lead the India team in this ICC T20 World Cup 2026, and the team will kick off their campaign on 7 February against the USA.

Raj Varma, popularly known as Snax, one of the biggest gaming influencers in India, was invited for a special captain's photoshoot ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. During the shoot, Snax also got the chance to create content with the players and asked Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav an interesting question.

Snax presented two winning situations from a T20 World Cup final. In the first scenario, Suryakumar has to take a match-winning catch, similar to the iconic moment from the 2024 T20 World Cup, to help India win the game. In the second scenario, there is just one ball left, and he wins the match by hitting a six. Snax then asked Surya which moment he would choose as his preferred winning memory.

Responding to the question, Suryakumar Yadav said, “What I felt after taking that catch and winning the match in the last T20 World Cup was something very special. That feeling was on a different level. Winning a match by hitting a six has already been done before (MS Dhoni) in 2011. So, I would definitely choose to win the match by taking a catch.”

Suryakumar Yadav’s catch in the 2024 T20 World Cup was one of the crucial reasons behind India's victory over South Africa. When South Africa needed 16 from the last over, Miller hit the wide full toss in long off, and Suryakumar Yadav took an outstanding catch. He runs towards the ball caught inside the boundary, and throws the ball in the air when he is about to go outside the boundary rope, and catches the ball again inside the rope. This helps India to win the final by 7 runs.

Now, Surya will lead the Indian side in this T20 World Cup 2026. The India team is looking solid with names like Abhishek Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Ishan Kishan, Varun Chakravarthy, Hardik Pandya, and Axar Patel.
