South Africa beat Zimbabwe by five wickets in the Super 8 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. It was a very interesting game as Zimbabwe fought really well and made a good fist out of it. After back to back hammerings in the last two games, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bat first. They could not start well as they lost the wicket of Marumani early. Brian Bennett, the second highest run getter in this edition so far got his innings going with a six off his first ball. But soon he too departed as he chipped a ball from Nortje straight to mid off. Zimbabwe were in all sorts of trouble at 28/2 within 5 overs. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza came in and stole the show as Zimbabwe posted a total of 153 at the end of the first innings.

South Africa lost both their openers cheaply and were in early trouble at 14/2. Rickelton smashed four sixes but soon departed as Zimbabwe kept fighting. It was Sikandar Raza with the ball as he picked up three wickets and was the star of the show. Dewald Brevis smashed 42 runs of 18 balls. Stubbs and Linde stitched up a partnership to help South Africa chase down the target with five wickets spare. It was an incredible game and in this article we look at how twitter reacted to this clash.

Twitter was full of praise for Sikandar Raza for his all-round show scoring 73 runs of 43 balls which included eight fours and 4 sixes. He later created magic with the ball picking up three wickets in four overs.

Sikandar Raza was the player of the match despite being on the losing side for his outstanding performance. South Africa remain unbeaten going into the semi-finals and they are set to face New Zealand at Eden Gardens in the semis. They have had different players step up at different times. In the last game it was the top order and today it was the lower middle order which puts them in good shape going forward in this 2026 WT20.
