Apart from witnessing some of the most epic games in the IPL, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, has time and again drawn criticism for some forgetful incidents that have dented the sportsman spirit in the tournament. One of the most recent examples of the same is how the DJ at the stadium trolled Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant while he was struggling on the pitch. Notably, the defending champions were up against the Lucknow-based franchise in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

The game saw the Rajat Patidar-led side record a five-wicket win over the Super Giants, owing to a splendid performance by their bowlers. However, coming back to the incident, the stadium has been home to one of the most loyal and intense fan bases in the sport, and it is one of the key reasons the franchise has received unwanted criticism from other teams, fans and experts. During the game, when Pant was struggling to bat, the DJ at the stadium kept trolling him with the infamous ‘Faaaah’ music, while the fans seemed to join him.

While supporting the home team is encouraged, doing so in a negative spirit towards the rivals not only leaves a bad impression, but also affects the players’ morale. Needless to say, the video of the incident ended up spreading on the internet as wildfire, landing the team in hot waters.

Rishabh Pant gets injured, stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran reflects on defeat

Apart from the loss, the guests received another blow in terms of an injury to their star player Rishabh Pant. Pant was hit by a Josh Hazlewood delivery on his left elbow in the fifth over of LSG’s innings and the star player was forced to walk off the field. It marked LSG’s third overall and second consecutive defeat, and Nic Pooran, who stepped in as a stand-in captain for the Super Giants, reflected on it.

He said, “It's T20 cricket. It's a tough game. It's a tough game to stay consistent as well. But the guys have been really working hard and credit goes to them. We'll try to fight it out as well. And I just believe it's a matter of time. Just have to stay patient, be ready for when the opportunity comes, and take on the responsibility with it as well.”
