India pulled off an iconic win against Pakistan in Colombo and secured their qualification for the Super 8 in the process. This game was the perfect example of how one sided India-Pakistan games have become despite having a rich legacy. Rivalries are meant to be between equals, but India have always been way ahead of their neighbours and the story was the same yet again tonight.

The men in blue cleaned up their neighbors and made it 8-1 in their favour with a 61 run in win at R. Premadasa Stadium and created history with their biggest margin win over Pakistan. Ishan Kishan started off brilliantly in the first innings and took India to a flying start and scored 77 runs off 40 balls. Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube added crucial runs as India set a target of 176 for Pakistan to chase.

Indian bowlers steal the show

Indian bowlers gave the world a glimpse of why they are considered to be one of the most lethal and dangerous bowling units in world cricket. Gautam Gambhir’s side took all ten wickets to wrap up a famous victory in Colombo. Hardik Pandya started off the proceedings with a wicket maiden over and put all the pressure on the Pakistani batters.

Jaspirit Bumrah joined the party and dismissed Saim Ayub on the next ball after being hit for a six before dismissing Salman Ali Agha in the same over. Axar Patel clean bowled Babar Azam in the fifth over before taking the wicket of Usman Khan in the 11th over. Kuldeep Yadav sent back Mohammad Nawaz before Shadab Khan was given a big farewell by Tilak Verma.

Varun Chakravarthy – The Hero

While all the bowlers put in a wonderful shift in the middle, Varun Chakaravarthy shined the most. The mystery spinner took two back-to-back wickets in the 16th over and cleaned up Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed. He was very economical throughout the game and maintained an economy rate of 5.67 while giving away 17 runs in three overs.
