
After the conclusion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and then the Indian Premier League (IPL), the focus will shift to One day cricket. India will play 15 ODIs starting from June till the end of this year as a part of their preparations for the all important 2027 World Cup. Indian fans will be excited to see Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in action after a long interval.
India has a packed ODI schedule ahead of the World Cup and will start things off with a home series against Afghanistan in June. The Men in Blue will host Afghanistan in a three match ODI series starting from June 14. The first game will be played in Dharamsala before proceeding to the second ODI in Lucknow on June 17 and then the final match of the series will be played in Chennai on June 20.
One month later, India will then take a flight to the United Kingdom to face off against England in a three match series. The first ODI will be played in Birmingham on July 14 before shifting to Cardiff for the second match on July 16. The third and final game of the series will be played at the iconic Lords Stadium on July 19.
India will return home to play one more three match ODI series, this time against West Indies. The exact dates and venues are yet to be announced by the BCCI, but the games are expected to be played between September and October. India’s fourth ODI series of the year will be against New Zealand away from home and the exact details have not been disclosed yet.
Gautam Gambhir’s side will play their final ODI series of the year against Sri Lanka in December 2026. It will also be a three match series and will be played on Indian soil. In short, India will play 15 ODIs from June onwards highlighting the importance of the 2027 World Cup. These games will also be very helpful for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to gain match fitness.
