The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have cemented their spot at the top of the table but it was done in an odd fashion in the game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. They lost the game by 55 runs but the Sunrisers Hyderabad wasn’t specifically over the moon with the victory as they knew how much it meant. RCB had the cushion to lose the match at the end but at a controlled rate and that was probably due to their dominance that they had shown earlier. There were a couple of important victories that paved the way for RCB to finish at the top of the table.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad put up a total of 256 on board and it was a daunting task for the visitors. They got off to a flying start in the powerplay with 75 runs and they still had 8 wickets in hand. It was surprising that RCB didn’t go for the chase for the standards they had set throughout the league stage but Rajat Patidar didn’t want to risk their top 2 spot. They just had to get past the total of 166 and this was the luxury that they earned because of some of their remarkable victories early on:

1)RCB’s clinical bowling restricts LSG to just 147

One of their most dominant victories came against the Lucknow Super Giants early on in the season. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru did a splendid job to limit LSG to just 147 after the 20 overs. The pace unit was absolutely fiery with the likes of Rasikh Salam, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood picking 8 wickets altogether. Then the total was chased down quickly by RCB and the match ended with 29 balls to spare. That gave RCB a massive boost in the net run rate and it eventually had a massive role to play at the end of the tournament.

2)RCB’s fiery pace attack bowls out DC for 75

During the 39th match of the IPL 2026 season, RCB produced yet another masterclass in bowling with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood running the show. The RCB pace attack just dismantled the DC batting unit by bowling them out for just 75 runs. Then in the second innings, the home side chased it down with 81 balls to spare and that was probably the biggest margin of victory in this season. This was yet another match that further asserted the dominance that RCB exerted over the other teams in IPL 2026.

3) Bhuvi’s six seals last-over thriller against MI

At last, this would be one of the most iconic victories that RCB has ever had against the Mumbai Indians and the game was nothing short of a thriller. The game was held at Raipur and it was a two-faced pitch, with the batters struggling to score runs. Mumbai Indians set a total of 167 on board for RCB to chase and it seemed like a competitive total on the surface.

The game was slowly slipping away from RCB as they lost 3 early wickets but Krunal Pandya decided to step up for his side. Despite Krunal Pandya’s heroics, it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s six in the third ball of the last over that proved to be decisive. This 2 points was probably the most hard-earned of all of their victories in the season.
