The Rajasthan Royals opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has won the Orange Cap in the IPL 2026 season and he is the youngest player to achieve the feat. Sooryavanshi has scored 776 runs from just 16 innings at a strike rate of 237.30. It is fair to say that the teenage sensation has been carrying the Rajasthan Royals batting unit on his shoulders. The kind of batting that has been on display from the youngster has been simply exceptional as he has just dominated the big stage. He has accumulated five half-centuries and a century in his campaign. There were doubts if Shubman Gill or Sai Sudharshan could overtake him by scoring a handy amount of runs but they didn't fire tonight
Rajasthan Royals reached till Qualifier 2 and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was their lone warrior with the bat. He has been able to contain the pressure in high stakes matches and he was dismissed in the 90s thrice in this edition of the IPL. His best knock of the season came against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the league stage when he scored a sensational century off just 36 balls. The opening pair of the Rajasthan Royals has proven to be the best one of the season with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi giving them good starts on a consistent basis.

The Rajasthan Royals will have an absolute no-brainer of a decision to make ahead of the IPL 2027 auction as he would be an obvious player in the retention list. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has single handedly carried the batting unit as far as the Qualifier 2 in IPL 2026 and there are not many batters who could have done the same. He has dominated the world class bowlers of international cricket such as Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazelwood and Pat Cummings. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will prove to be a very precious asset for the Rajasthan Royals in the future.
