Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was seen getting emotional as he received his maiden India cap ahead of the second T20I against England. Notably, Sooryavanshi rewrote Indian cricket history as he became the youngest men’s player to play for the country on the international stage. The left-handed batter broke Sachin Tendulkar’s longstanding record to achieve the feat at the age of 15 years and 99 days. As Sooryavanshi received his maiden cap, cap number 122, from vice-captain Tilak Varma, the young lad got emotional and was spotted wiping his tears.

He replaced Sanju Samson in the playing XI and opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma. While Sooryavanshi got off to a staggering start and hit his Rajasthan Royals teammate Jofra Archer for a six on the first ball, his stay on the crease was cut short at just 14 runs. The Bihar-batter was stumped by Jos Buttler off a Will Jacks delivery. With this, he became the first Indian batter to be dismissed via stumping on a T20I debut.

He's got a calm demeanour. He doesn't take pressure at all: Shreyas Iyer on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Earlier during the toss, as India captain Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first against England, he lauded Sooryavanshi and said that he has a calm demeanour. Iyer went on to say that he is confident and doesn’t take pressure at all. “You've seen him in the last couple of months, the way he's been smashing the ball, taking on the best of the bowlers, shows immense confidence that he possesses,” said Iyer for Sooryvanshi.

“He completely deserves to be in the squad the way he has performed in the last couple of months and years,” Iyer continued. “He's someone who doesn't take pressure at all. The way you see him inside the dressing room, he's got that unflinching nature. And so good to have him around.” “I'm sure he's very well aware of what's going to come in these matches. And as I mentioned, that he's got a calm demeanour. He doesn't take pressure at all,” he added.
