Star prodigy and India’s wonderkid Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made it to the headlines yet again by scoring a quickfire century against England in the final of U-19 World Cup. Suryavanshi decided to turn up the ante on the grandest stage and helped India notch up a good total in the first innings. It took him just 55 balls to complete his century with a strike rate of over 180.

The youngster has always been regarded as one of India’s finest cricketing prodigies over the years and with a century in both the semi-final and the final, Vaibhav has strengthened his credentials as the next ‘big thing’ in Indian cricket. He showed no mercy to the English bowlers and took them on remand with over ten fours and sixes each at the time of writing.

He scored his half-century in 32 balls and went on to score his 100 in just the next 23 deliveries making his 100 a joy to watch. His explosive and fearless style of batting has already pushed England on the backfoot because they have no clue about how to stop him.

This century is just another feather in the cap for the young gun who has been praised by pundits and fans all across the globe for his heroics on the pitch. He has laid a strong foundation for India in the all important final and it’s now up to the other players to step up and take responsibility.

Suryavanshi has now become the youngest player to score the fastest ever hundred in an ICC 50-over final having scored 155 runs so far. Having last won the title in 2022, India are eyening their sixth ICC U19 World Cup title in ten final appearances and it remains to be seen if the boys have what it takes to go the distance this year.
