April 24âs IPL contest unfurled a mega clash between the RCB and the GT side in which an interesting statistic took the centre stage prior to the start of the contest itself. Perhaps an underrated one, as how some would call it! Prior to Fridayâs latest RCB v GT clash, the two teams had met one other on 6 previous occasions that had resulted in an absolute deadlock. And how? For both sides had managed an exact number of 3 wins against each other. So this seventh game had to be something interesting, perhaps offering either side with a fresh opportunity to go one-up against its opponent. And so one found out (that exactly that took place)!
But how?
Anchored brilliantly by a timely, classy knock of 81 valuable runs that came off just 44 odd deliveries and peppered by 4 sixes and 8 fours, the man avidly described as âKing Kohliâ would go on to rock GTâs boat. In so doing, he also ruined such a valiant effort from Gujaratâs Sai Sudharsan who had hit a rollicking century to help his team to what looked at one stage a healthy 205 run total on the board.

However, that wasnât the only interesting moment in the contest
In the initial stage of the contest with GT batting first, Virat Kohli who was fielding close to the batting pitch with Sudharsan and Gill, had a funny thing to share with the captain of the opposition camp (i.e., Gujarat Titans). The legendary former Indian captain and batting sensation was seen making seemed like a funny little gesture to the roaring right hander, Shubman Gill.
So what did Virat say to Gill?
As one fan over X put it aptly- it was the following:
âVirat Kohli teasing Gill, saying I will bowl an inswing onto your pads and get you out lbw then Gill replied saying i will flick it for a six!
Their bond is so underrated!!â
What was funny in this incident is that not only does Virat Kohli rarely ever bowl but just doesnât know how to swing it. And even then, the humour!
The bond between the two It exists and is a rather sweet one at that. There was a time when Kohli in test whites and in the shortest format of the day was being described as the king whose place would eventually be taken by Gill, whose arrival was being billed as a box office high of sorts.
It was sort of a transition art mode at best, as youâd call it, with the King who had achieved cricketing immortality making way for the world to witness a new batting sensation- Shubman Gill.
Now, whatâs fantastic here to witness is that despite all that success that he has earned including the Test captaincy, Shubman Gill never ceases to appreciate and admire Virat Kohli. And the bond between the two is sweet, peppered with light hearted moments and the two get along very well.
