Chennai Super Kings knocked out as Royal Challengers Bengaluru win six matches in a row
This was the 68th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings. The fight between these two sides for the 4th and final spot was going to be decided from this match. Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted 218/5 in the first innings and had to win this match by 17 runs or more to qualify for the playoffs. Chennai Super Kings struggled in the middle overs and later they tried to get to 201 rather than going for the win.
The game was close and CSK needed 17 runs of the final over to qualify for the playoffs. MS Dhoni started things by smashing a six off the first ball and the equation was 11 runs from 5 balls. Yash Dayal picked up the wicket of Dhoni in the next ball and that was the big blow. MS Dhoni was very disappointed and CSK ended up with 191 at the end of the innings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru qualified for the playoffs by winning six matches in a row.
