Indian batter Rinku Singh is mourning the loss of his father, Khanchand Singh, who passed away on February 27, 2026, after a prolonged and brave battle with stage-4 liver cancer.
His father had been undergoing treatment at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where his health had deteriorated in recent days and he was placed on ventilator support before he breathed his last.
Khanchand Singh came from humble beginnings and worked hard throughout his life, including delivering LPG cylinders to support his family back in Aligarh.
Despite his financial struggles, the fatherly figure of the Singh family made every effort to ensure Rinku had the opportunity to pursue his cricketing dreams — a sacrifice that played a significant role in shaping the cricketer’s rise to prominence.
Rinku had briefly left the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup camp in Chennai to be with his father when his condition worsened, demonstrating how important family has always been to him. One can’t even imagine what might be going on with Rinku Singh at the moment. He must be crestfallen. Rather, that is an understatement.
