Tall. Agile. And lanky. These are the first immediate impressions that strike your mind about a talented cricketer who’s already glad to be donning the bright purples of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Saurabh Dubey is an Indian cricketer known for his role as a bowler, particularly a left-arm medium-fast pacer. He was born on 23 January 1998 in Wardha, Maharashtra, and has represented teams like Vidarbha in domestic cricket as well as India’s Emerging squad. Dubey gained recognition after making his List A debut in the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup, where he played against Nepal. He is a right-handed batsman and primarily contributes to his team through his bowling skills.
Although he has not yet played international cricket for India, Dubey has been associated with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises such as Sunrisers Hyderabad and has also been picked in IPL auctions in later seasons.
Rather interestingly- and something that inspires confidence- his performances in domestic tournaments back home in India along with T20 leagues have actually helped him build a reputation as a promising pace bowler.
This will come in handy particularly as a time where someone like Zimbabwean pace spearhead Blessing Muzarabani, who by the way had a great contest in the T20 World Cup, is all set to be the figurehead in the bowling line up for the world class Kolkata franchise.
More on the talented fast bowler, the seamer’s appointment by the famed Kolkata Knight Riders is also a new direction from the franchise to scout for fresh new faces in the fast bowling department within India. That’s instead of being heavily reliant only on foreign forces to add to their fast bowling arsenal.
So what does this prove? It shows that franchises continue to see potential in the abilities of talents whose best days lie in the future.
This is the List-A bowling record of Dubey-
The key KKR bowler who’ll be glad to make early breakthroughs into the other franchises’ batting order has been a pivotal weapon for Vidharba and from 8 matches in a still young and still developing career he’s picked 16 wickets.
