Cricket fans on X (formerly Twitter) heavily praised India's bowling performance during the 1st ODI against England at Edgbaston on July 14, 2026. After suffering a humiliating 4-0 whitewash in the T20I series, the return of India's senior bowling core completely flipped the narrative on social media.
Fans became extremely excited as the Indian bowling line-up which faced extreme criticism during the T20I series caused major collapse for England. Gurnoor Brar who initially looked like a weak point in the opening overs of the match turned the match tides as he dismissed Jacob Bethell and Ben Duckett consecutively who had already made a 60 runs partnership for the English team.
Jasprit Bumrah was then introduced into the attack who dismissed skipper Harry Brook for just 1 run, securing his 150th wicket in ODI cricket. Prasidh Krishna and Shivam Dube who received extreme flak during the T20I series against England were claimed to be looking like players from the prime Australian bowling attack as they contributed to the dismissals by taking crucial wickets. Prasidh Krishna dismissed Sam Curran and Jos Buttler for extremely low scores collapsing the English bowling attack.
Alongside the bowling, KL Rahul's sensational one-handed catch behind the stumps to dismiss Will Jacks off Shivam Dube pulled off a stunning bowling performance which generated a brilliant catch from KL Rahul leading to Will Jack's dismissal.
Liam Dawson-Joe Root stitch 50+ runs partnership amidst England collapse
England got off to an extremely good start with a 60 runs partnership between the opening pair, Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. Ben Duckett looked extremely dangerous in the beginning but lost momentum as he neared his half century against England. Duckett initially lost his partner, Bethell to a delivery by Gurnoor Brar which shook things for the English team as they lost Duckett as well to a delivery by Gurnoor Brar.
What followed England was a series of dismissals as skipper Harry Brook who couldn't perform and was dismissed at just 1 run by the bowling legend Jasprit Bumrah who also completed his 150 wickets in ODI cricket. After losing the skipper, Jos Buttler and Sam Curran also tried to put on a partnership with Joe Root for the team but were dismissed for single scores by Prasidh Krishna. Shivam Dube was then brought into the attack and dismissed Will Jacks with a stunning catch by KL Rahul.
Joe Root then supported by Liam Dawson put up a partnership of more than 50 runs against India and Dawson even ended up scoring a half century against the team. At a moment where England looked like they would be all out for a really low score, Dawson and Root managed to bring them back into the game by keeping the team at 190 for 8 wickets in 39 overs.
