X (formerly Twitter) is buzzing with excitement as India is currently playing Pakistan in their opening Group 1 match of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 at Edgbaston.Fans on social media are actively tracking the live updates and discussing every moment of the high-voltage clash. The biggest talking point on social media started even before a ball was bowled. Fans quickly noticed that Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana did not shake hands at the toss. Many users are sharing clips and screenshots of the moment, pointing out that this continues a strict "no handshake" pattern between the two sides seen in recent tournaments. While some fans are debating the sportsmanship of the move, others feel it simply reflects the extreme, dead-serious intensity of the rivalry.
Indian fans on X were delighted with the choice, agreeing that setting a strong total on the Edgbaston pitch is the right way to put early scoreboard pressure on Pakistan.Early boundary updates, especially from opener Smriti Mandhana, are getting flooded with blue heart emojis and words of encouragement as fans rally behind the "Women in Blue". Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues are facing sharp criticism on X for throwing away their wickets cheaply and leaving India in early trouble at 30/2 during the powerplay. Both batters fell within the first few overs of India's opening match against Pakistan at Edgbaston, leaving fans heavily frustrated with their shot selection and lack of responsibility

# Women T 20 World Cup 🏏 @ India vs Pakistan Live Streaming # India lost 2 important wickets within the power play. Shafali Verma & Jemimah Rodrigues both played atrocious shots to throw away their wickets. Such a non-serious approach at this level defies cricketing logic.

India Women loses openers, Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues within Powerplay
Shafali Verma’s dismissal happened in the very first over of the match against Pakistan. Opening the innings, the explosive Indian batter started with immense confidence. She smashed a massive six on the very first ball against left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal. However, Sadia Iqbal bounced back brilliantly on the fifth delivery. She intelligently fired a quicker ball directly onto a tight middle and leg stump line. Attempting to back away and clear the field for another big shot, Shafali found herself completely cramped for room. The ball extra-bounced, forcing an uncomfortable edge off her bat. Wicketkeeper Muneeba Ali safely held the catch, sending Shafali back to the pavilion for 6 runs off 5 balls.
Jemimah Rodrigues’s dismissal occurred in the third over of India's innings, piling intense pressure on the team. Walking out at number three, the senior batter struggled from the start. Pakistan’s bowling kept her completely quiet, and she crawled to just 1 run off 7 balls.Frustrated by the lack of runs, Jemimah tried to force a big shot to break the shackles. Facing left-arm medium-pacer Tasmia Rubab, she charged down the pitch to smash a lofted hit over the infield. However, Jemimah completely mistimed the ball, which took a high top-edge and soared into the sky. Fielder Natalia Pervaiz held her nerve under the high ball to take a comfortable catch, ending Jemimah's short knock.
