X went crazy as Australia Women started off on a high note against rivals England Women in the Final of the Women's T20 World Cup 2026. After opting to bowl first in the biggest game of the tournament, Australia put up a clinical performance in the powerplay picking up two wickets and dominating the game early on. Kim Garth started off things as she conceded just ten runs in her first few overs.
Lucy Hamilton who has bowled really well but unable to pick many wickets in this tournament struck in her very first over of the final as she picked up the wicket of Amy Jones. England Women were reduced to 14/1 at the end of three overs.
Australia Women continued the good work as Annabel Sutherland picked up the wicket of Danii Wyatt as England continued to lose their way. England Women trying to rebuild with captain Nat Sciver Brunt leading the charge
England captain Nat Sciver Brunt along with Alice Capsey put up a partnership for the third wicket. But just as England Women were coming back into the game they lost the wickets of Capsey and Heather Knight in quick succession. Australia Women captain Sophie Molineux was excellent as she dismissed Capsey to put England in further trouble. Nat Sciver Brunt continued to anchor the innings.
Kim Garth who bowled brilliantly in her first few overs without picking a wicket was brought back into the attack and this move was justified as she picked up the wicket of Heather Knight to further put Australia on top. There was a lot of anticipation for this game between these two unbeaten sides and so far it has been Australia Women who have dominated things and delivered a terrific performance with the ball. Nat Sciver Brunt is still at the crease and England Women will hope she can bring them back in the Final.
