Yashasvi Jaiswal has created a unique record while featuring in the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. It was his 30th Test appearance and the 30th different venue of his career. From Dominica where he smashed a debut hundred against the West Indies in 2023, the left-hander has never returned to the same ground for a Test. Only two other Indians have managed this sort of record. Sanjay Manjrekar played his first 33 Tests at 33 different venues while Sachin Tendulkar managed 32. The left hand batter joins them as the third Indian to play 30 Tests at 30 different grounds. He has had a disappointing outing with the bat in Galle as he was run-out for 32 after a chaotic mix up with KL Rahul.
The graphic about his record that was shown by the broadcaster has gone viral on social media and it captures his Test journey cleanly. He has played in a lot of different grounds from Caribbean, South Africa, Australia, England, home venues across India, and finally the historic Galle International Stadium. The 30 different stadium includes Port of Spain, Centurion, Cape Town, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Kanpur, Bengaluru, Pune, Wankhede, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Leeds, Birmingham, Lord’s, Manchester, The Oval, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Eden Gardens, Guwahati, New Chandigarh and now Galle.
