Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal recalled the hilarious conversation with former skipper Rohit Sharma during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. Jaiswal, who is currently gearing up for the forthcoming two-game Test series against Sri Lanka, shared a few pictures of him from the training caption and dropped a hilarious caption, leaving fans nostalgic. Notably, Sharma, the former captain of the team, has been known for his hilarious stump-mic dialogues.

One such dialogue of Sharma that went instantly viral among fans was when he gave a scolding to Jaiswal during the day 1 of the BGT 2024 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia. He was heard telling the young opener, "Arre Jassu, Gully cricket khel raha hai kya? Niche baith ke reh. Jab tak ball khelega nahin tab tak uthne ka nahin." (Hey Jassu, are you playing cricket? Crouch down and don't get up until the batter plays the ball.)

A day before the practice Test match against Sri Lanka, the 24-year-old dropped a few pictures from his fielding practice and captioned it, “Because once a legend said “jab tak khelega nahi, tab tak uthneka nahi”(Because once a legend said, don’t get up until the batter plays the ball). Needless to say, fans were quick to recognise who the ‘legend’ was, and filled the comment section with heartwarming responses. This clearly shows how widely admired the 39-year-old has been and is dearly missed among fans in the whites.

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has made big claims about Indian batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad with respect to the forthcoming 2027 ODI World Cup. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the cricketer-turned-commentator said, "He does two jobs. He can open and bat in the middle order as well. Although he shouldn't have batted there, he was made to do that, and he scored a fifty and a hundred there. Yashasvi, on the contrary, is just a backup for an opener. However, I feel they won't take either of them.”

Chopra went on to say, "I feel they will take both Nitish Kumar Reddy and Hardik Pandya, and both Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. So a spot won't remain. Two keepers need to be taken. So KL Rahul plus Ishan Kishan or maybe Rishabh Pant, I don't know. Neither Ruturaj Gaikwad nor Yashasvi Jaiswal has chances of going.”
