Erling Haaland continues to do well every time he is up against Crystal Palace. He has now scored Ten goals in six Premier League meetings between these two sides. The Norwegian opened his account for the new season with a header in the 17th minute and then added a second goal later in the match. The two goals pushed his tally against Crystal Palace into double figures. No other current Premier League striker has scored so many goals against one opponent in so few matches. Haaland has now scored in every single league appearance against Palace. He has done it at home and away with different managers and in different conditions.

The Premier League’s official account posted the video of all his ten goals against Crystal Palace and that video has gone viral on social media. The match on Friday was only the second match for him under Enzo Maresca. Antoine Semenyo passed in a cross from the left, Haaland rose above the defence and scored a header. Haaland wore a black armband during the match after the death of Norway’s King Harald V was announced earlier that day. Manchester City were lethal as they won the match 4-1 and it was a great performance from the Norway striker.

Manchester City beat Crystal Palace 4-1 to go top of the points table

Crystal Palace started the match strongly under new head coach Pierre Sage but the early aggression could only last for some time. In the 17th minute Antoine Semenyo found space on the left and passed a cross which Erling Haaland met with a header that sailed beyond Dean Henderson. City led 1-0 and the tone was set from that goal. The first half remained competitive without any other goals. Phil Foden lifted one chance over the bar. Palace threatened on the break but failed to test Gianluigi Donnarumma seriously. At the interval the visitors held a goal advantage and the most possession. The score was 1-0 and the match was well poised.

The second half saw plenty of goals. In the 54th minute Rayan Cherki took the ball, dribbled through plenty of players and provided a great finish past Henderson. Two minutes later Palace responded. Yeremy Pino’s free-kick crashed against the crossbar, rebounded off Donnarumma’s back and went in the net. The own-goal made it 2-1. In the 59th minute Chekri struck from the edge of the area and a deflection off Chris Richards wrong-footed Henderson and helped City get a two-goal lead. The Frenchman’s quickfire double had taken the contest away from the hosts.

Crystal Palace continued to press and created half-chances, but City controlled the tempo and possession of the match. Six minutes from time Phil Foden gave Haaland an assist. The Norwegian needed only one touch before drilling a left-footed shot high into the net. City won the match 4-1 and by securing these points they are top of the table after two matches. On the other hand, Palace remained pointless after this loss.
