Over five World Cups, Messi participated in the highest number of matches in World Cup history, which was 26, while he also scored 13 goals in the competition. Besides, he made the highest number of World Cup goal involvements with 21, making him the only person to win two FIFA Golden Ball awards in 2014 and 2022.
