After the defeat against Grimsby Town at Blundell Park, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim talked about Kobbie Mainoo’s future at the club. Mainoo wants a loan move away this season but United denied the request and told the academy graduate they expect him to stay with the camp and endeavour to win a place in the team. Serie A title winner Napoli has shown interest in Mainoo. Mainoo has been associated with United since 2022 and in these three years, he has scored three goals in 50 outings.

Mainoo hasn’t got game time from the management and he eagerly wants to move out of United to gear up for the World Cup, set to be played next year. Discussing Mainoo’s future, Amorim recently said in a presser that he wants the English player to fight for his spot and the club requires the 20-year-old’s services. "I want Kobbie to stay and he needs to fight for his place. We need Kobbie. That is not going to change. The players not playing with be disappointed but everyone will have opportunities. You have to fight in the week," said Ruben Amorim. United manager's statement corroborates that his club are blocking the youngster’s transfer to other teams.
