On Wednesday, August 20, Leon Bailey, the Jamaican footballer, completed a season-long loan move to join AS Roma from English club Aston Villa in the ongoing summer transfer window. It is understood that the 28-year-old has reportedly gone to the Italian club on a €2 million loan fee for the 2025-26 season while there is an option for them to buy him for €22 million next summer.
The Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, shared the video of Leon Bailey arriving in Rome yesterday, wherein he also gave the details about the loan deal with the buy option agreed by Aston Villa for the player with AS Roma. Notably, after making his arrival to the English club in 2021, he went on to score 22 goals in 144 matches for Aston Villa, including an impressive 2023-24 season, when he scored 14 goals in all competitions.

Currently, Leon Bailey is on a contract with Aston Villa which runs until 2027, and it was signed in February 2024. In their press release, AS Roma welcomed the Jamaican on a season-long loan deal while confirming that he chose the number 31 shirt to wear at the club, where he will be expected to deliver the goods regularly at right wing.
After finishing in fifth place in the Serie A last season, AS Roma are also a part of the UEFA Europa League 2025-26, where Leon Bailey will get the opportunity to compete in Europe as well. However, there is an important thing to note that he scored just two goals in 38 matches in all competitions, putting a bit of a question mark on his form going into the new season.
