Lionel Messi once reminded everyone why he remains the greatest to ever play the game after scoring four goals for Inter Miami. On a Saturday night in Miami, the Argentina captain delivered a dream performance scoring four goals and an assist as Inter Miami thrashed CF Montreal 7-1 at Nu Stadium. At 39 years old, Messi continues to do well at the highest level. His first goal was a curling free-kick in the 40th minute that left the Montreal goalkeeper stranded. Twelve minutes later, in the 52nd minute, he produced magic again, going past three defenders inside the box before smashing it for his second goal. 

In the second half, Messo gave a perfect assist to Luis Suarez as Inter Miami scored their fourth goal and then completed his hat-trick with a delicate shot in the 83rd minute. He stepped up again in stoppage time and sent another free-kick into the net for his fourth goal of the night. This was Messi’s first four-goal haul since his Barcelona days in 2020 and the first of his MLS career. The win ended a frustrating five-game winless stretch for Inter Miami and this 7-1 win has once again put them in a better position.

Inter Miami Thrash Montreal 7-1 to pick up the largest win in club history 

The match began with Inter Miami looking sharp and looking to make a statement. Casemiro flew to meet a corner in the 20th minute and put Inter Miami in front. Montreal came back immediately as Fabian Herbers found an equalizer just before the half-hour mark. Messi smashed a free-kick on 40 minutes to get back the lead and they went into the halfway mark with a lead. The second goal scored in the 52nd minute by Messi put them firmly on top. Messi received the ball and dribbled past their defenders and finished with the outside of his right foot.

The final half-hour was completely dominated by Inter Miami. Messi gave an assist to Suarez, who finished calmly to make it 4-1. Three minutes later Messi himself completed the hat-trick with a terrific goal. Substitute Alexander Shaw scored the sixth goal with a strike from distance, and Messi closed the scoring with yet another free-kick deep into extra time as Inter Miami managed to win 7-1. This was also Inter Miami’s largest victory in club history and also the first time that Messi has managed four goals at the MLS.
