Gianluigi Donnarumma, 26-year-old Italian international goalkeeper, was a crucial addition for PSG since the time he made his debut at the club. The Italian goalkeeper joined PSG from the Italian giants AC Milan in the year 2021. Donnarumma has played a massive role for PSG in their major trophy winning campaigns throughout the 4 seasons that he has been with the club.

The Italian international is now ready for a new chapter in the Premier League as Manchester City have officially announced the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma from PSG. The transfer fee of the deal is reportedly worth €30m with additional add-ons included in the deal. Donnarumma has signed a contract at Man City valid until the year 2030 with an option to extend until 2031. He will be the latest goalkeeping addition to the squad following the signing of James Trafford from Burnley.

To have signed for Manchester City is such a special and proud moment for me: Gianluigi Donnarumma

Upon his arrival at Man City, Gianluigi Donnarumma expressed his delight as stated in the club statement, “I am joining a squad packed with world-class talent and a team led by the one of the greatest managers in the history of football in Pep Guardiola. This is a club every player in world football would love to join. I have admired watching Manchester City for many years - so to now be able to play for the Club is a huge honour and a privilege.I cannot wait to meet my new teammates, the staff and the fans. Playing at the Etihad Stadium will be very, very special for me.”

Donnarumma was excluded from the PSG squad before the Super Cup final as Luis Enrique wanted a different profile goalkeeper in his team and completed the signing of Lucas Chevalier from Lille. Pep Guardiola was a huge admirer of the 26-year-old and wanted City to make a move for him as soon as he was available in the transfer window. It will be interesting to see who will be the starting goalkeeper  for Pep Guardiola in the next PL match against Man United following the international break.
