In a latest development, Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Belgian side Antwerp to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens, 23, in the ongoing summer transfer window. It is understood that the personal terms between Manchester United and Senne Lammens are “almost agreed” as per one of the latest posts from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, while the Red Devils are working on a deal to bring the player on board.
The post on X from Fabrizio Romano also had information about how Manchester United are anticipating competition for the signature of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from clubs in France and Italy. Also, the outgoings at the club in the remainder of the summer transfer window, which is set to close on September 1, could also have a bearing on how much they will try and push the envelope to sign him.
Manchester United lost 1-0 to Arsenal in Premier League after Altay Bayindir's mistake in goal
During the pre-season, Manchester United hierarchy and club manager Ruben Amorim prioritised the signings in attack, bringing in the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko, while adding Diego Leon in the first team. While these additions have already made their impact in a short space of time, the Red Devils lost their opening match of the new Premier League 2025-26 season at Old Trafford by 1-0 against Arsenal last weekend.
The Manchester United players created a lot of clear cut chances, but they were kept at bay by the ever impressive David Raya in Arsenal goal. On the other hand, Altay Bayindir, who started ahead of Andre Onana in goal for the Red Devils, made one key mistake in the early stage of the contest, allowing Riccardo Califiori to score on probably the easiest header of his career in the 13th minute, which proved to be the ultimate difference.
With Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim clearly stating that fitness being not an issue in regards to Andre Onana getting benched against Arsenal despite fulfilling the first choice goalkeeper role for the last two seasons, the club could push hard to bring in Senne Lammens to give themselves more options.
