Marc Guehi, the captain of Crystal Palace, is left angry at his club after they blocked him from joining Liverpool on deadline day, September 1, of the recently concluded summer transfer window. It is understood that the 25-year-old didn’t get the final permission to leave Crystal Palace because club manager Oliver Glasner threatened to resign from his position with immediate effect.
As per the report published in the Guardian, the Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, had made the decision to reluctantly accept the £35 million offer from Liverpool for Marc Guehi despite Oliver Glasner insisting otherwise. Following that, Marc Guehi underwent the first part of his medical at Liverpool before the deal sheet was submitted on Monday, September 1, ahead of the 7 PM deadline, for the move to be completed.
Crystal Palace had signed off farewell video for Marc Guehi before Liverpool deal fell through
But when Oliver Glasner told Crystal Palace about leaving the club if Marc Guehi got sold, Steve Parish changed his mind in regards to the move, leaving the 25-year-old extremely unhappy at what just transpired. The departure of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace was incredibly close, so much so that the club signed off a farewell video for him, which got leaked online shortly after, and it had the message “Thank you Skip”, at the very end.
In the aftermath of this transfer saga, wherein Liverpool had arranged a private jet to bring Marc Guehi to Anfield on September 1, he is contemplating whether to continue being the captain of Crystal Palace. Moreover, with Guehi finding himself in the final year of his current contract with Palace, there is a high likelihood of not only the Merseyside club, but also other clubs from Europe and elsewhere coming in for him in the January transfer window.
