Alexander Isak, the 25-year-old Swedish striker, has been an integral part of Newcastle United since he joined the Geordies in 2022. However, since the end of the previous campaign, the Swedish international had been adamant about pursuing a new chapter at a different club and was keen on joining the defending Premier League champions Liverpool to fulfill his ambitions.
The forward went on strike and initially refused to train with Newcastle United in order to make the move happen. Finally, before the end of the transfer window, Liverpool completed the signing of the 25-year-old for a record breaking British fee of £125 million excluding the add-ons. Following Isak’s arrival to Liverpool, Newcastle completed the signing of Yoanne Wissa from Brentford and Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart to reinforce the team again. Ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Andorra, the English international and Alexander Isak’s former team-mate Dan Burn stated his feelings on the transfer saga.
Football is a short career and people have got ambitions and things they want to achieve: Dan Burn
The Newcastle United defender stated that he was happy that the transfer saga was finally over considering the fact that it had been a long time since the team were being affected by the situation. The defender made it clear that he had no anger towards Alexander Isak and knew that he had some goals in mind which he needed to achieve. Dan Burn stated, "Alex is a mate so it's a tough situation. You want him around to help the team but also for him he has things to do personally, so I have nothing but good wishes."
Dan Burn also made a remark in the interview with BBC Radio 5 live, and said that, "Football is a short career and people have got ambitions and things they want to achieve. I am just happy it's over now." Isak will be looking forward to achieving all his personal goals with Liverpool and guide them to massive success this season.
