Coming back from a table-top finish in IPL 2021, DC would be heartbroken not to find a place in the finals. Not a single trophy to their credit team might have affected the morale of the squad over the years and they would definitely want to win their first title this season. The head coach of the Capitals, Ricky Pointing will have a major role in building the team for the next three years. They need to find quality top-order batsmen, and all-rounders who can win them matches single-handedly. Let's have a look at how DC can form a team in the upcoming auction.

What will DC look for in IPL 2022 Mega Auctions?

With seven overseas slots available to DC  in the auctions, the franchise could focus on their bunch of overseas stars. In addition, they need to find a batsman who can score with consistency like Shikhar Dhawan has done for them in the past. It won’t be surprising if they get Dhawan back in the team to open alongside Prithvi Shaw. They also need a bowler who can bowl at the start of the innings and someone like Mohammad Shami would be of great help.

Players who will be on DC's radar

David Warner: The Australian opener would be a great pick for DC to open alongside Prithvi Shaw. Shaw being the aggressor, David Warner can ensure that he does not give away his wicket and support Shaw. He too can change gears as and when required. Warner, in prime form, is always in the leading run-getter list of the IPL and every franchise would love to have a player like him. Expect DC to bid their former star.

Mitchell Marsh: Another Australian player who has the ability to win matches single-handedly with his all-round skills. Currently, Marsh is in tremendous form and is high on confidence after winning the T20 world cup and the BBL as well. Not only can he bat but can also bowl when required. Middle overs is usually where he dominates the game and he can have a great partnership with Rishabh Pant and they both can easily win matches for DC.

Mohammed Shami: A very talented pacer who loves bowling in the start and is unplayable if it's his day. Can shock the batsman with his bouncers and slowers one’s as well. Has the ability to pick wickets in the power play which is always a very great skill to have and can create problems for the opponent team and have an immediate impact on the result of the game. Has a lot of experience under his belt and knows how to bowl under pressure as well.
