17 young gymnasts from Mumbai have been chosen to compete for India at the Asian Championship for Acrobatic Gymnastics in Uzbekistan in October. An official confirmed on Thursday. The student gymnasts, who range in age from 13 to 28, are from Lokmanya Shikshan Sanstha's Shree Narayanrao Acharya Vidyaniketan (LSSSNAV), a gymnastics training facility in Chembur.


The chosen gymnasts are from various schools and also include some working adults who were trained by internationally renowned coach Rahul Sasane, a Shiv Chhatrapati Award winner, and his two assistant trainers, Yogesh Pawar and Sunil Ranpise. Pawar is also a recipient of the Shiv Chhatrapati Award, whereas Ranpise has several accolades to his name.


The gymnasts who will participate in the junior in the Indian delegation of 46 that will travel to Tashkent are Bhostekar Yadnyesh, Khannukar Samarth, Uniyal Namoh, and Gosavi Ashwin. These athletes belong to the 13-17 age category. 


The names of the other 13 participants are as follows:
Jagdale Rutuja, Ekhande Priti, Khasase Aditya, Gosavi Akash, Gurav Achal, Renavkar Ashutosh, Dhokale Akshata, Patil Arna, Borade Sonali, Mahavar Naman, Borade Ritesh, Kothekar Kunal, and Gore


This year’s Asian Gymnastics Championships will mark the 13th edition where Acrobatic has been a part of the competition. The previous edition was held last year in Kazakhstan from September 23 to 28. India had won a gold and two silver medals in the competition.
