Adding to the death toll on the cricket field, another 20-year-old bowler passed away in a tragic incident on Friday, January 26. The deceased is being identified as Suhaib Yaseen, who was playing in Janjiwera area of Pattan in Baramulla district.

As reported by a media outlet, the 20-year-old collapsed while taking a run-up to bowl. Although he was rushed to the nearest hospital after the sudden collapse, he was pronounced dead on arrival. Former MLA Imran Reza Ansari took to X (formerly Twitter) to extend his condolences.

“In the wake of tragedy, Pattan grieves the loss of Suhaib Yaseen, a spirited soul who met an untimely end on the cricket field today. The pain is shared by the entire people of Pattan. My thoughts are with Suhaib’s family as they navigate this profound sorrow. May we collectively find strength & support to cope with this heartbreaking loss,” Imran Reza wrote on X.

Off late, a cricketer named Vikas Negi, lost his life after suffering a heart attack while batting for Mavericks XI in a local match in India. A day after Negi’s death, a cricketer named Jayesh Savla, aged 52 passed away after he was hit by a ball. Playing the Kutchi Community’s cricket tournament at the Dadar Union Sporting Club, Savla was hit by a powerful shot on his head, but was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
