For mer Italian centre-back and Ballon d'Or winner Fabio Cannavaro is set to take the managerial role for the Italian second division club Benevento. This will be Cannavaro's first coaching stint in the European football as he previously managed China National Team and Chinese Super League side  Guangzhou Evergrande.

After winning Chinese Super League and Chinese Super Cup, Cannavaro left Guangzhou Evergrande in September last year. The 49-year-old Italian averaged 2.06 points per game with the Chinese club.
