Indian team have announced a 16-member squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan drawn a lot of eyeballs since both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be playing this format for Team India for the first time after ICC men's T20 World Cup 2022 semi-finals.
Here, in this article, we will have a look at three players who may not be part of the T20 World Cup 2024 squad despite being part of a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan.
1. Sanju Samson:
Sanju Samson, throughout his career, has never been part of Team India on important occasions as he was included in the squad only when crucial players were rested. In 2023, he played 8 T20I matches when the ODI format got precedence due to the World Cup event and notably, in short sample size, he hasn't proved his excellence in T20Is as he averages only 19.68 after playing 21 innings.
Jitesh Sharma is expected to play ahead of him in the XI during the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan hence, Samson may not find a place once Ishan Kishan returns to the squad.
