Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League in 2008, but the squad in pink has had a dry run since then. They’ve made the playoffs three times since their 2008 triumph but haven’t been able to recreate their achievements from the initial season. The Royals have depended heavily on their foreign players, particularly Englishmen. Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and Ben Stokes formed a formidable core for the squad, which seemed to have shattered their dreams on multiple occasions.

RR SQUAD: Samson, Jos Buttler (R), Yashasvi Jaiswal (R), R Ashwin, Trent Boult, Shimron Hetmyer, Devdutt Padikkal, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag, KC Cariappa, Navdeep Saini, Obed McCoy, Arunay Singh, Kuldeep Sen, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel, Tejas Baroka, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubham Garhwal, James Neesham, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Daryl Mitchell

Here are the three players who might struggle in IPL 2022:

1. Riyan Parag

In 23 IPL innings for Rajasthan Royals, Parag has made 339 runs with one solitary half-century at a strike rate of 118.50 and average of 16.90. He has only hit 29 fours and 12 sixes thus far. He failed to impress in IPL 2021 as he could score just 93 runs in 11 games. The right-hand batter also failed to close games and that affected RR badly. He also was ineffective with the ball in hand.

2. Daryl Mitchell

Already having Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal in the top followed by Shimron Hetmyer and Rassie Van Der Dussen would not help Daryll Mitchell in any way. The New Zealand allrounder does not contribute a lot with the ball and playing his first IPL, it is unlikely that he would be having a great season ahead. He would be getting very few chances in the Playing XI and would be difficult for hi to have an impact on the game.

3. Nathan Coulter-Nile

Another player who will struggle to find a place in the playing XI. Nathan Coulter-Nile did not have a great BBL either. He has lost his pace and also doesn’t contribute a lot with the bat. He is also very injury prone due to his age and hence it would be difficult for him to have a good IPL season. Having Trent Boult, Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, James Neesham will only make it difficult for Coulter-Nile to get much of match time.
