Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain, is going to step onto the field in the final of the ODI World Cup 2023 against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, November 19. This will be the second time in his cricketing journey that the 35-year-old will be playing the ODI World Cup final after a 12-year long wait.
He has been one of the main architects of India’s success with the bat in hand in the CWC 2023, performing the role of anchor at the number three slot in the batting order. During the year 2011, in his first ODI World Cup, Virat Kohli played a key role for India in the final against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, to help the team lift the coveted trophy for the second time in their cricketing history. He scored a valuable 35 off 49 balls, with four boundaries, stitching together an important partnership of 83 runs with Gautam Gambhir after India lost their openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar cheaply.
The experience of winning the ODI World Cup at an age of 22 years old, while making an important contribution, is going to keep Virat Kohli in good stead in his quest to win the world title for the second time in Indian colours.
