Wrestlers protest against WFI Chief
Top Indian wrestlers accused former Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexually harassing seven female wrestlers. Not only this, but they also protested against Brij Bhushan at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar in the early months of 2023. Names including Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat, and more demanded the removal of the Brij Bhushan. There was a moment when police lathi-charged the wrestlers and were manhandled by them. The incident garnered attention from several notable names, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC) called the treatment of Indian wrestlers by the police ‘very disturbing’.
Bhushan was removed from the post, and elections took place again in December.
