The mini-auction for the SA20 2024 concluded with some big money spent over a small set of players for the upcoming edition. The much-awaited event took place on September 27 in Johannesburg, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Pretoria Capitals, Durban’s Super Giants and Paarl Royals completed their sides for another entertaining season.

The auction saw a lot of money spent on local South African players with dynamic abilities. Looking at the biggest spenders in the auction, the Faf du Plessis-led Joburg Super Kings, who went on a roll and bought three of the four most expensive players. The mini-auction for SA20 2024 saw Dayyan Galiem and Matthew Boast emerge as the most expensive players as both were picked for a sum of R 1.6 million. Dayyan Galiem will join the Joburg Super Kings as all-rounder with 437 runs and 25 wickets from 34 T20s. Whereas Boast, another upcoming all-rounder will play for the Pretoria Capitals. Ahead of the auction, Matthew Boast has 53 runs and nine wickets from six T20s so far and played for the South Africa U-19 team sent to the World Cup in 2022.
