Wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant became the most expensive players in the history of the IPL. After getting released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the mega auction, Pant was picked by Lucknow Super Giants for a whopping INR 27 Crore. Later, LSG also announced Pant as their skipper for IPl 2025.
2. 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi becomes youngest-ever to get an IPL bid
The IPL 2025 mega auction turned out to be life-changing for 13-year-old young cricket Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Rajasthan Royals picked Suryavanshi for a huge amount of INR 1.1 crore making him the youngest-ever player to get an bid in the IPL auction.
3. Yuzvendra Chahal becomes most expensive spinner in IPL
Yuzvendra Chahal became the most expensive spinner in the IPL history after Punjab Kings picked him in the IPL 2025 mega auction. After getting released by Rajasthan Royal, the leg spinner was picked by PBKS for a whopping INR 18 crore making the top buyed spinner in the cash-rich league.
4. David Warner goes unsold
The IPL 2025 mega auction also left fans in a shock after David Warner didn’t get a single bid during the event. Warner is one of the best players in IPL history and is among the leading run scorer in the tournament with 6565 runs. Warner also won the IPL title in 2016 and has emerged as the leading run scorer of the tournament three times. However, the left-hander couldn’t get a single bid and got unsold in the auction.
5. KKR acquire Venkatesh Iyer for INR 23.75 CR after releasing him ahead of auction
The defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders bought Venkatesh Iyer back in their squad after releasing him ahead of the mega auction. However, KKR had to spend a whopping INR 23.75 crore in the auction after an intense bidding war against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Recently, KKR have also appointed Venkatesh as vice-captain with Ajinkya Rahane getting appointed as skipper for IPL 2025.
