AC Milan have kept their hopes for qualifying for European football alive after beating Bologna by 3-1 in a Serie A game, played at San Siro Stadium on May 9. Santiago Gimenez showcased his spunky side and scored two goals for Milan. The 24-year-old turned the game in his team’s favour as Bologna was dominating the game until the 73rd minute, when the forward scored the first goal for Milan and levelled the scores. Santiago’s courage emboldened Christian Pulisic, who stepped up and scored for Milan in the 79th minute. Before couple of goals from Milan, Riccardo Orsolini notched up a goal for the visitors.

In the extra time, Gimenez again displayed his brilliance and racked up another goal in the 92nd minute. The match concluded in Milan’s favour and with this success, they moved to the eighth spot on the points tally with 60 points, earned through 17 wins and nine draws. They have also recorded 10 defeats in the tournament, thus far. Bologna, who are targeting a spot in the UEFA Champions League for the second year in a row, have slipped to the seventh place with 16 wins, 14 draws and six losses in their 36 outings.

Napoli and Inter Milan fighting for the Scudetto

On the points tally, Napoli and Inter Milan are having a fierce contest with each other for the title. Both teams have already qualified for the Champions League 2025-26 and they are now aiming for the top position to record a major success to their profiles. As of now, Napoli are leading the table with 77 points gained through 23 triumphs and eight draws in 35 matches.

Following them, Inter Milan are holding the second position with 74 points, gained through 22 victories, eight draws, and five defeats in 35 contests. Napoli will next take on against Genoa on May 12 while Inter Milan will clash against Torino on May 11.
