The reigning ODI World Cup champion in England are currently taking on Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. The Jos Buttler-led started, who started their campaign losing against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium earlier this month, however are coming after a win over Bangladesh.

The Three Lions won the toss and invited the Afghan side to bat first, restricting them below 300-run target. But when it was their turn to take the Afghan bowlers, the English top order fell like a pack of cards. In the 21st over of the England side was reduced to 117 with five of their batter heading back to the pavilion, putting the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side on top.

The Afghanistan side after being invited to bat first, put 285-run target on the board, courtesy a strong tart by the Afghan openers with Gurbaz scoring 80 off 57. Ikram Alikhil also added crucial 58 runs to the scoreboard.
