The Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Uruguayan and Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez for £46.3 million in the ongoing summer transfer window. It is understood that Darwin Nunez is going to undergo a medical, to complete the move to Al-Hilal on a three-year contract, which will mark an end to an illustrious journey for the 26-year-old at Liverpool, scoring 40 goals in 143 matches for them.

Notably, the journey of Darwin Nunez at Liverpool began when he joined them in June 2022 from Portuguese club Benfica for an initial fee of £64 million. While his first couple of seasons at the club were quite exemplary, the 2024-25 season wasn’t as fruitful as he could only score seven goals across all competitions, making just eight starts in the Premier League title-winning campaign.

Liverpool had rejected Al-Nassr's bid for Darwin Nunez in January

With the departure of Darwin Nunez, the funds generated would be beneficial for Liverpool to complete the move for the striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United in the ongoing summer transfer window. It is important to remember that Liverpool are reportedly letting go of the Uruguayan striker this summer after rejecting a bid from another Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr in January, which was worth £61 million, as per BBC Sport.

Ahead of his impending exit from Liverpool, Darwin Nunez showed impressive form for them in the four pre-season matches, scoring five goals, which included a hat-trick within 20 minutes against Stoke City. At Al-Hilal, the Uruguayan will play along with the likes of Joao Cancelo, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ruben Neves, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Yassine Bounou, among others.
