Alexander Isak, the Newcastle United forward, who is a Swedish international, has missed out on being named in the squad for their pre-season tour of Asia. In their 30-member squad, the name of Alexander Isak was omitted despite manager Eddie Howe stating that he would “absolutely” be added in their squad for their pre-season matches in Singapore and South Korea.
Notably, as per the Newcastle United’s statement on the matter, they stated that the 30-year-old has missed out on the pre-season tour of Asia due to a minor thigh injury. This development has come amid him being linked with Liverpool for a potential move in the ongoing summer transfer window after scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season, helping his club make the UEFA Champions League.
Alexander Isak missed out on Newcastle United's first pre-season friendly last week
It was just last weekend when Celtic got the better of Newcastle United by 4-0 in the latter’s first pre-season friendly, but Alexander Isak missed out on being a part of this contest as well. The Magpies will take on Arsenal on Sunday, July 27, in Singapore, following which they are going to take on a K-League All-Star team on July 30 and Tottenham Hotspur on August 3 in South Korea.
Although, in a big positive for Newcastle United, defender Lewis Hall, who hasn’t been a part of the squad in February due to a foot injury, has been included in the squad for the pre-season tour to Asia. All in all, the Newcastle United fans will be hoping that Alexander Isak will not only get fit in time before the start of the season next month, but also take the field for them.
