Team India pacer Mohammed Siraj has responded to Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s compliment which came after the speedster’s courageous bowling show against England in the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. Siraj did a marvellous job for India in the series. He claimed 23 wickets in five games of the series and emerged as the most successful bowler in the series. With Jasprit Bumrah expected to be absent from a couple of games in the series, Team India fans were anxious before the competition about how India’s bowling unit would fare in England’s batting-friendly pitches. Siraj exhibited his brilliance and did a superb job with the ball and saved India from losing the series by a 3-1 margin.
In the final Test at the Oval, he grabbed nine wickets and emerged as the hero of India’s six-run win. Following his breathtaking bowling performance, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi had praised Siraj through an X post. Owaisi had written, "Always a winner @mdsirajofficial! As we say in Hyderabadi, poora khol diye Pasha!" The phrase means you played exceptionally. Replying to Owaisi’s laudable post, Siraj wrote, “Thank you so much sir Always cheering for me."
Will selectors pick Mohammed Siraj for the Asia Cup 2025?
Following the superb bowling show from Mohammed Siraj in England, eyes are on BCCI selectors whether they will induct the speedster in India’s Asia Cup 2025 squad. The 31-year-old played his last T20I game against Sri Lanka in August 2024.
This year, he looked confident for Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Spearheading Titans’ fast-bowling unit, he grabbed 16 wickets in 15 matches. With the T20 World Cup 2026 only six months away, Siraj will expect the selectors to give him opportunities to display his excellence with the ball.
