Indian squash prodigies, Anahat Singh and Veer Chotrani have etched their names into the history books by qualifying for the 2025 PSA World Squash Championships. The prestigious tournament, set to be held in Chicago from May 9 to 17, will feature the world’s top-ranked players, and the Indian duo’s qualification marks a significant achievement for the nation’s squash ambitions. 17-year-old Anahat Singh continued her meteoric rise in the sport by delivering a commanding performance at the Asian Qualifying Event, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In the semifinals, she defeated Hong Kong’s Toby Tse, a formidable opponent, to secure her berth in the global tournament.
With this victory, Anahat becomes the youngest Indian woman ever to qualify for the senior World Championships; a landmark achievement that showcases her immense talent and potential. Anahat, who gained attention after representing India at the 2022 Commonwealth Games at the age of 14, has consistently proven herself on the international stage. Veer Chotrani to play in maiden World Championship
Meanwhile, Veer Chotrani, currently ranked 63rd in the PSA World Rankings, showcased grit and determination to earn his spot in the World Championships. The Indian No. 1 battled past Malaysia’s Mohammad Syafiq Kamal in a tense semifinal encounter at the same Asian Qualifiers. Known for his tactical acumen and court coverage, Veer’s qualification marks his debut appearance at the World Championships.
Chotrani will join a strong Indian contingent that includes Abhay Singh, Velavan Senthilkumar, and Ramit Tandon, making it one of India’s most competitive line-ups in recent years.
