In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Gujarat Titans (GT), at the iconic Wankhede Stadium, the latter side lost their couple of reviews in the 10th over of the match. On the second delivery of the over, Rashid Khan bowled a googly to Will Jacks which hit the English batter’s pad. Following the action, Rashid appealed to the umpire for the dismissal but got no success. Gujarat skipper Shubman Gill took a review. Going through the ball-tracking technology, the third umpire found that extra bounce missed the leg stump and Jacks survived the call.
Three deliveries later, Rashid trapped Suryakumar in front of the stumps but this time again, the on-field umpire denied the spinners’ appeal. GT captain again went upstairs and reviewed the umpire’s verdict. This time, the ball passed over the leg stump again. Noting GT’s couple of unsuccessful reviews, netizen accused MI of umpire-fixing in the contest. An X user named Ashish wrote, “Are nahi lena chahiye tha DRS aaj koi LBW nahi hoga. #MIvsGT”
Will Jacks hits his maiden IPL fifty
Will Jacks shone for MI again in this competition. This time, he has done a magnificent job while donning the role of batter. With MI reeling at a score of 26/2 in 3.3 overs, Jacks stepped up and produced a 53-run knock off 35 balls. His innings included five fours and three maximums. It was his maiden IPL fifty.
With Suryakumar Yadav, Jacks stitched a 71-run stand off just 43 balls. Suryakumar departed after amassing 35 off 24. Batting for 20 overs, Mumbai have delivered a target of 156 to Shubman Gill and his men. Sai Kishore did a fine job with the ball and became the highest wicket-taker in the innings, registering 2/34 figures in his four-over spell.
