Arsenal are reportedly feeling quite confident about signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as their first big player in the summer transfer window despite interest being shown by Real Madrid. Apart from the Galacticos making a late move for Martin Zubimendi, the likes of Liverpool are also interested in potentially bringing him in, but regardless, Arsenal are in the box seat to get his signature in the summer.
As per the report from ESPN, the sources have stated that Arsenal have managed to bring the negotiations to an advanced stage in regards to signing Martin Zubimendi. The release clause in the current contract of the Spaniard with Real Sociedad is $68 million, and with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta being a fan of the player, apart from their sporting director Andrea Berta keen on strengthening their midfield with him, he could be their newest signing in the summer.
Apart from that, it was last week when Mikel Arteta spoke about the club’s intention to extend midfielder Thomas Partey’s contract, but there is no update on whether the deal has been reached or not. Since Partey’s current contract is set to run out at the end of the ongoing 2024-25 season, there is a slight chance of him staying at Arsenal, but only if he takes a pay cut as per the ESPN source.
With Jorginho’s future also in doubt in Arsenal midfield, it is expected that the North London club will push hard to secure the services of Martin Zubimendi in the summer. Moreover, the Spaniard had opted to not sign with Liverpool last summer despite their push to bring him in, and instead, he opted to stay at Real Sociedad for one more season, but now, it could all change as Arsenal have come calling for him.
