
In a shocking incident form a supermarket in Italy, a man stabbed six people leaving one dead and five injured including Spanish defender Pablo Mari. The 29-year-old Arsenal centre-back, who is currently on loan at Italian club A.C Monza was attacked on Thursday in a shopping mall stabbing incident that took place in Milan.
When the supermarket stabbing incident took place, Mari was in Milan's Milanofiori di Assago shopping center. After the incident, he was taken to the Niguarda hospital for treatment to his injuries.
The Carabinieri confirmed a supermarket employee died on the way to the hospital and three other victims were in serious condition while another person was treated for shock but not hospitalized. "A mentally unstable man decided to stab people. One person has died and four are now seriously injured," a police spokesman said.
English giants Arsenal took to their Twitter account to address the matter and wrote, "Our thoughts are with Pablo Mari and the other victims of today's dreadful incident in Italy. We have been in contact with Pablo’s agent who has told us he’s in hospital and is not seriously hurt."
Arsenal wished speedy recovery for the defender and other injured people and stated, "We are all shocked to hear the dreadful news about the stabbing in Italy, which has put a number of people in hospital including our on-loan centre-back Pablo Mari... Our thoughts are with Pablo and the other victims of this dreadful incident."
