India made as many as five changes for their last Asia Cup Super 4s match against Bangladesh on Friday, 15th September, with Tilak Varma making his ODI debut. Suryakumar Yadav, Prasidh Krishna were brought in and are playing their first game in this Asia Cup. Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami were also brought back into the XI.

It was expected that Virat Kohli would not rest at this Asia Cup, but Varma might be slotted in if Iyer doesn’t get fit for the World Cup. It is to be noted that the left-hander is not in India's World Cup squad, but a change can be made until September 28. While he has shown his potential in the shortest format of the game, but is yet to prove himself in the ODI format.
However, it wasn’t the day for the young batter. Varma had a disappointing debut as he was dismissed for five off nine deliveries after Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck. Fans who earlier spoke of his debut in ODIs, took to lash out at the debutant.
