Ahead of their maiden final against the hosts, the Indian men's badminton suffered a big blow as the ace shuttler HS Prannoy suffered an injury on Saturday. The number seven seeded player will miss the Indian men's team final at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, Republic of China, which is slated to be played on October 1, Sunday.
The Indian men's badminton team led by HS Prannoy, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth, scripted history by making it to their maiden finals at the Asiad as they defeated defeating the Republic of Korea 3-2 on Saturday, earlier on September 29.

As per the latest developments, the World Championships bronze medalist will be benched out of the finale due to an injury that he might have sustained after the semis. Instead of him, Mithun Manjunathan will be featured in men's singles clash.

This is the second time that Prannoy will miss the men's team event final, after the Thomas Cup last year. During the Saturday's semifinal, Prannoy played the first match against South Korea and got his side a 1-0 lead against the counterparts. Prannoy took down Jeon Hyeokjin 18-21, 21-16, 21-19 in the first match of the semifinal round.
