The Indian men and women's chess teams won silver in the team events at the 19th Asian Games 2023, Hangzhou, the Republic of China on October 7, Saturday. The women's team consisting of Koneru Humpy, Harika Dronavalli, R Vaishali, Vantika Agrawal, and Savita Shri lost their final match to home favourites to find themselves a second-spot finish in the continental contest. With their win, the Indian women extended the medal tally to 106.

The Indian men's team, on the other hand, won their last match of the day against Philippines to win another medal for the country. With their victory, the Indian men's chess contingent consisting of Arjun Erigaisi, R Praggnanandhaa, D Gukesh, Vidit Gujrathi, and Harikrishna Pentala, further extended the tally to 107. In the same event, Iran was crowned with the gold medal.
