This was the third gold for the Indian women’s kabaddi team at the Asian Games in four straight finals since the competition was first introduced in Guangzhou in 2010. With this epic triumph, they have managed to right the wrongs of a heartbreaking loss in the Jakarta-Palembang 2018 against the Iranian women’s kabaddi team.
The Prime Minister of India took to his official Twitter account to congratulate the Indian women’s kabaddi team for winning gold at the Asian Games 2023. He also talked about how this victory is a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Indian women athletes.
Notably, the Indian men’s kabaddi team will be in action later today in the final against Iran at the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre Court 1 in the Asiad. They will be looking to avenge the loss against the Iranian men’s kabaddi team in the semi-final of the Asian Games in 2018 in Jakarta-Palembang, to secure their eighth gold medal in nine attempts in the competition.
